I ended up changing the 55,000 J Europe to Middle east award to a Europe-Europe 1-way for 20k in J and a Middle East-Europe 1-way for 27.5k in J, for a total of 47,500.
I was told within 2-3 weeks that the 7,500 difference would be posted to my account. Instead of returning my 7,500 miles, United have TAKEN 47,500 additional miles from me again. In essence keeping the 55,000 I already paid, not returning the 7,500 difference and then taking an ADDITIONAL 47,500 miles from me. I keep getting kicked from agent to agent, with all of them saying United is right. What do I do? I feel like I am taking crazy pills dealing with this damn airline.
As we all know, UA has been having issues with crediting miles and also refunding miles for cancelled/changed award bookings.
I suggest you send them a concise email detailing days you redeemed miles, the routes, and then list any changes to routes along with the dates changes were made. I had some similar issues and an email did the trick.
It'll be okay. It may require a few emails, but your account will be properly credited.
And in your email, I suggest you refer to the situation as a "mistake" rather than theft.
