MileagePlus Upgrade Award
I just booked a refundable B fare which includes an international segment, BOS-EWR-MXP. I just added myself to the wait list for an upgrade 40k miles, no copay since its a full fare.

The last segment EWR-BOS was upgraded.

What happens if my upgrade doesn't clear on one of the international segment? Can I cancel the upgrade on that leg? I don't want to spend 20k just for BOS-EWR.

If I cancel the upgrade request all together do I have to pay a redeposit fee?
