Well, exactly, but, alas, it's not so! You are assuming anything these clowns do is logical. The SE email @aircanada.com is staffed by AEROPLAN correspondence people and anything related to actual AC bookings gets referred back "please contact AC customer relations", for instance:

"Kindly note, the Aeroplan Correspondence Department is unable to address issues regarding the breakdown of associated charges to bookings. Should you require further assistance regarding your booking, please call the Super Elite Desk at 1-800-We-suck.
