Absolutely incorrect. Next time ask for a supervisor.

I fly in and out of LGA several times a month as well, and they have been doing the name game — asking you to state your name. This appears to be a stupid derivative of that stupid practice. I suspect pressing the issue and asking for a supervisor will result in one of those fake 'well, I will let you go this time, but next time ..."
