I have seen Dallas, yes, the whole city plus Ft. Worth, sell out. No cars anywhere at any rental car facility. I had a reservation at a competitor to National and they sent me to several others saying get whatever I could and they would pay for it. In the end I did not get a car. I went to National, Alamo and Enterprise, and they all had cars but would not give me one. Why? They were reserved by other customers. What a concept. I went back to the competitors office and they said take a cab and we will pay. The office was packed with customers with reservations and no cars. Oh, to get a cab, I had to take the shuttle back to the airport terminal and hail one. Even the cabs were in short supply. I will never, ever, use that company again I don't care how cheap they are.

When I got to the hotel, I went online and booked a car for late the next day, the first time there was availability, at Alamo. Cab took me to Alamo, I took the cab receipts, one to hotel, two back and forth from work and one to Alamo and got reimbursed. By check. Right there. I told them I did not trust their mailing me one. I won't $ay which company it wa$, but it may be ea$y to gue$$.
