Wouldn't one usually get access to the Lounge based upon being in a Suite though? When I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Amman last year I was Plat but used my Suite Upgrade from the CC and had lounge access.
Were you Diamond at the time you made the reservation? It's possible that they just looked at the reservation form without checking your current status, and assumed that you were a Diamond.
