Just wanted to see if anyone else has had experiences with getting points for dining when not staying at the hotel.

I dined at the Andaz Wall Street a few weeks ago, and though I provided my GP number to the server at the end of the meal (there is a place at the bottom of the receipt to write in your GP number), the points never posted.

I did keep my receipt as a record, however, unfortunately, it appears that if points don't post, GP wants us to follow up directly with the restaurant rather that going through GP. (There's actually a notation to that effect on the web site under the link one would usually use to request points for a missing stay.) Frankly, that seems like GP is simply washing their hands of providing any support for this benefit when points don't post. A better solution would be to offer us the opportunity to go through GP by filling out a form and attaching a scanned receipt.
