The setup sounds reasonable enough. The USB AC adapter gives you 5V as opposed to 4.3V but that is probably OK (I would not think 15% overvoltage fries the camera).

The 3rd party DC couplers I have tried have been very flimsy - this is probably the weakest link in the chain.
