Yeah it's crazy. Causes endless confusion at the gates. Can be even worse at the EDI end with 2 BA LHR, 1 BA LGW, 1 ex BMI and 1 LCY all leaving within 30 mins of each other (though in that situation they would be liberally scattered along the length of Turnhouse). Then some visitor turns up and asks which is the London flight.
