Hi everyone, I have a question regarding booking a Delta international flight. Basically I would like to book a round trip international flight originating from outside the US, but am not set on the return date as it will be months away from the departure. If I book the cheapest ticket I can find, will I be able to cancel the flight and receive credit for the return leg (minus change fee) after the departing flight? If so, is there a way to know how much credit I would get since delta only shows the total price and does not show the values of each way? You might possibly receive credit for the price difference between the fare you paid (for the return leg) and the cheapest one-way fare at the time. However, the one-way fare is typically more expensive than cheap round-trip tickets so you are very unlikely to actually receive a refund in practice.
Airlines are pretty good at protecting their pricing models - cheap one-way tickets would interrupt many of them.
