I'm looking at joining Theater Development Fund (I am technically a member of a clergy as I got ordained to do 2 friends weddings...I have the proper ID) or TheaterMania.

Are these legit? Any other ones that do great deals or comp tickets?

I'm not much of a theater person, so I don't know how often I'd use it, but I figure I'm living in NYC, I should take advantage of what's out there.
I started working for a nonprofit the beginning of this year and the first thing I did after getting my first check was to join TDF.

We've only used it twice so far this year (using it again this coming weekend, though!), and both sets of seats were pretty far away (high and wide), but the price (around $40 for B-way, less for off B'way, even less for Off Off) is much better than you can get from Theatermania or Playbill.com or Broadway Box.

Prior to TDF we used all three of those others and compared deals whenever we were planning our theater trips to NYC, and occasionally mixed in a visit to the TKTS booth (which recently seems a bit cheaper than those 3 options and can have better last minute seats), and rarely some full priced tix for hard to get Off-B'way shows.

The TDF interface and procedures are simple. Give it a shot, especially if you qualify for out of town membership (much cheaper).
