Criminal force is taken very seriously once physical contact has been made. Even as simple as grabbing someone's wrist is enough to progress with charges.
However, the reality is that even when a physical altercation has taken place, the police or investigators may never proceed with charges.
If the assault was only a threat, I suspect the legal officials would go out of their way to have you reconsider laying charges, feeling sympathy for the Singaporean attacker. They would site the loss of the airport job as being a hardship to their family. A possibility is that they could file the case, creating a drama that hangs in limbo. Those who have spent much time in Singapore may know what I am talking about.
Making a long story short, filing charges are a waste of your time. They'll make sure of it.
