You can pay $80 something to add pages and get a passport good for another three and a half years. Then in three years renew it for $110

Or you can pay something like $110 and get a new 52 page one that's good for another ten years.

To me it's a total no brainer, after two or three years it makes more sense to renew and get the double size book.
