Are you flying JetBlue? I believe they still offer non-stop flights between BOS and RIC. They also sell one-way tickets at non-premium prices over round trip tickets. Being so close to the departure date you likely will not find something too cheap but as you said it is now a business trip and if you are just finding out about it your employer will wind up paying what they would have anyway.

Looks like USAir also flys n/s to RIC.
