Quick question:
Which countries/regions/airports have allowable stopovers en route to New Zealand from North America?
Information:
My +1 and I are hoping to use miles for an international award trip. We have a difficult time finding time off, so we're hoping to do 1 big trip in May
combining 2 locations from our wish list in South Pacific / Asia (via stopover or OJ). We have UA, AA and USAirways miles.
Wish List of destinations (in order):
- New Zealand (esp South Island)
- Thailand / Cambodia / Vietnam
- Bali
- Hawaii
Are either of the following allowable? - N.A. / BKK (stop) / New Zealand?
- N.A. / BKK (stop) / Bali?
It seems like most folks stopover in HKG / NRT / ICN en route to South Pacific. Those countries (not to mention huge metropolitan areas) aren't very high on my wish-list.
I know it is possible to do a stopover in Hawaii en-route to New Zealand, so that is sort of my "backup" plan at this point.
Any suggestions or advice for maximizing miles?
Also, which airlines? Air New Zealand to NZ... ANA to SE Asia?
Thanks for help! New to booking these big Int'l Awards.
