An awesome resort property 90 minutes north of the Phuket airport! I went during low season, and the resort had a very private feel to it. I was told that there were only 60 guests that day. As such, not all the restaurants are open everyday; they rotate them. The hotel gives you a pamphlet outlining which buffets/restaurants will be open on each day, as well as various activities. I took a hotel transfer, which cost 2000THB. Upon checking in, I was personally greeted by the manager as a Platinum, and was given his direct number in case I needed anything. A very nice touch!
I had booked a Pool Villa, and was upgraded to an Oceanfront Villa. However, I was looking forward to the privacy of the pool villa, so that was the first upgrade I’ve ever turned down! The Pool Villa is large nicely appointed. There’s an outside waterfall shower in the back bathroom area. Hot water in the showers took a bit longer than usual to get going. The private pool is larger than what I expected, and the water was pristine (so was the main pool area). The only thing that’s missing is a Jacuzzi.
All the staff I’ve interacted with were great! While their grasp of English may not be 100% perfect, they won’t hesitate to find somebody else who’s more fluent to help you out. My room was missing a few towels, and they were delivered extremely quickly via buggy.
The food selection in the buffets were pretty decent. Food quality was about average; nothing to write home about. Food and beverage rates were a bit high for Thailand, but I guess its normal practice for resorts. Most dining is al fresco, so beware of the mosquitos! Repellent spray is provided, which is a nice plus. I ordered room service for lunch, and several items on the menu were not available.
The gym is a bit smallish, but has several cardio machines along with free weights and a weight machine. A 90 minute massage is about $100, which is outrageous for SE Asia. Internet speeds can be slow to the point of being unusable during the day. However, when I was jetlagged in the middle of the night and early mornings, I was satisfied with the speed.
I also saw a cat and dog roaming around the property. However, I had better things to do than inquire about their provenance and whether they were being exploited.
