Interesting. He was trying to let them board, or the GA let the PAX board late? I thought it was weird when I got down to the plane door that the gate agents were lecturing him about how it's not right to let passengers board this late. He literally just ignores them and walks on.
Sully (and his first officer) noticed right before departure that there were a couple empty seats, and he wanted to accommodate the next folks on standby, even though it was past "scheduled" departure time (so not exactly your situation, but similar). GA obviously was angry because he reported it to the Chief Pilot office
It's actually a great book to read for any frequent flyer interested.
