I am used to spotty wifi connections but I expect wired Ethernet to work in fact I expect all room components to work, not waste precious sleeping time waiting for fixes for shoddy hotel maintenance.
I intend to dispute the entire charge with my credit card company.
I needed to log into a company VPN to run apps beyond processing mail. My client has only VPN based email functionality so you must be connected to access you cannot just store and send and receive. I would not do this in public aside from the gross inconvenience I was dealing with highly sensitive commercial information. I also had no intention of paying £10 per MB from my mobile because of this property's inability to provide a basic business service.
Have I travelled back in time or something here? How is it EVER acceptable for a business hotel not to have any available in room Internet in 2012?
Had the Hotel not offered you a different room, I may agree with You. But it takes no time to throw on some clothes and go to the new room, heck they probably would have let you leave everything in the old room and just work in the new one.
I get teh impression you really didnt want the room to begin with due to cost and found a way to get a shower and some sleep and a way Not to pay for it
Lastly it seems you were gonna Dispute it anyway so why come on FT and ask what you should do when it was already set in your mind what you were going to do???
