Get the RR credit card late this year but don't use it until January. Then your 50k points will post in 2013 and you will have a shot at getting CP for the rest of 2013 and all of 2014.
This is interesting. Are you sure there isn't a time limit like "use the card within 3 months of the issue date to get 50k points?"
