There was no clear signposting in the room for dialling the front desk and I had to resort to using my own mobile to call the main switchboard number to raise the issue. It took almost 45 minutes to find me another room which I didn't want to switch into (I had showered and was wearing just a. Bathrobe and I didn't want to be bothered gathering up my stuff I just wanted to do a bit of work). I finally managed to start work around midnight and managed less than an hour had 4 hours sleep then left for the reliable Internet connection of the airport lounge.

The front desk flatly refused any rate refund. And instead waived my minibar charge for a 12 euro bottle of wine.

Is it reasonable to expect more than this?
Seems to me a new room and free bottle of wine is more than enough compensation for an hour or so of spotty Internet.

And yes, at pretty well every hotel on earth, just dial zero...
