I don't travel with companions often so I don't know if this is normal. Are upgrades usually cheaper for elites, same price, or cheaper for GMs? (From the threads on FT you'd think it was usually cheaper for GMs, but it may just be that these cases are so surprising that's what ppl post about)
Since you were on same PNR, that means you should both be on same fare class. This is first case I've seen since 3/3 where elite gets better offer than GM. Thanks for sharing it!
