Interesting post but I think Good Samaritan laws generally don't protect medical professionals. I assume the Federal Act is to offer uniform protection to lay people since the GS laws change from state to state. In most jurisdictions trained (and currently certified) medical professionals are held to the same standards of care as their certification. I used to be an EMT (just as a hobby) but I let my certification lapse so I'd be covered by GS in case I ever stopped at a traffic accident & rendered aid.
May be some weird exclusion for in-flight, but I can't imagine a trauma surgeon botching CPR being deemed as anything but a negligent act. Perhaps one of our resident legal eagles would know for sure.
