I am the primary cardholder of a United Explorer card. My husband is not a primary cardholder, but I ordered a second card for him with his name on it (my account number).
I just booked a flight for him using only my Mileage Plus miles (he has no United miles) and no cash. He will be traveling alone to Hawaii (I'll be on a different flight because of miles).
If he shows "his" United Explorer card, can he get a free checked bag? I ask because 1) he's not the primary holder, 2) we didn't use his miles to get the ticket, and 3) we didn't use my United Explorer card to pay for anything related to the ticket.
We're now trying to decide who packs what, so this info would be a big help =)
Thanks in advance!!
You will know 24 hrs out when you do OLCI (online check in) it asks if you will be checking any bags and how many, if you chose 1 bag and it comes back with a fee you will have your answer. Its a YMMV issue some folks will get it for $0 others will be hit with the Fee.
just do OLCI at T-23:45 so if they want to charge you still have enough time to arrange the bags as you want to
