Your so called loophole could end up costing you more especially if your aim is to travel onward to mainland Europe.

The EI route is a great use of Avios but only if you want to visit Ireland. The hassles of onward connections then having to get back to DUB with very limited luggage allowance probably won't save you all that much in the end.

You might have been better just to have gone straight to mainland Europe via LON without a stopover to avoid paying some of the extra charges....or use IB.
