I surely hope I would not get tossed from FT for letting someone know my thoughts about the understanding/experience of the T&C's of hotel programs.
The point is, these are not shared accounts.
However, this OP seems to be in the 'award night for someone else's thread'.
Therefore, my answer will change a bit.
With Marriott you can use your points to redeem for a family/friend (the hotel may or may not extend your benefits, they certainly are not obliged to).
The OP simply needs to put the correct name on the reservation. It's unlikely he/she will get credit if they are not staying in the hotel (per the MR T&C).
I was originally thinking they were asking about a paid stay......so I will have to edit that post. However, my thoughts on trying to get credit for someone else's stay remains the same.
