Mia -- you are correct that I realize that UA will not upgrade me on international flights and I receive none of their domestic benefits. Regarding ticket purchases, I usually buy the lowest economy fare listed on the UA or Swiss sites. Don't mind a layover en route, just unsure which of the European carriers I should commit to.
