Interestingly, American Eagle updated their safety announcement about a year ago to specifically state that wearing headphones during taxi, takeoff, and landing was permitted as long as any battery-operated noise cancelling functions were turned off. As far as I know, this has never been expressly permitted on any UX carrier.
