This has become quite a common occurrence and not just a BoA situations. BoA's handling of the situations isn't the best in my experience. You should contact them in writing requesting the type of breach and if they will be providing credit protection services.
I personally pay a company to secure my credit info after having my identity stolen twice. Might be worth looking into if they're not offering it to you for free.
They simply refuse to tell me anything over the phone. All they keep parroting is "There was a data breach and you shall receive a letter in the mail that will provide further details".
They don't seem to offer any credit monitoring services. But I already have experian offering me round the clock monitoring.
