That's a complete crock and you should tell EK that. They often do equipment changes under 24-hours, so while you may have checked at home via the EK seat map or ExpertFlyer and be comforted that you were in a certain type of seat, you may just find yourself experiencing something completely different.

I flew from SIN-FRA last week. Flight from SIN-DXB all good. Flight from DXB to FRA not so good. Had used miles to upgrade from J-F (and the seat map showed Suites config for both the SIN-DXB and DXB-FRA flights) however as I boarded the FRA bound flight, I was disappointed to learn that I was on a 777 with the old F. Then we sat on the ground for 2.5 hours waiting for our take off clearance. However, I did manage to drink a bottle of champagne in an attempt to punish EK for the delay and the last minute equipment change
