Is the link you posted to curved or straight? How wide is the strap at the hardware end? I too actually like the removable hardware; clamps, swivels and the rest of the hardware just annoy me. If I can fit it on my bag and skip the clamp, so much the better.
The one I got and linked to is the curved one. The strap thickness is 1.5" at the hardware end.
