Totally second the recommend for Lydgate as a lovely swimming beach. Locals as well as tourists frequent it. Over the last twenty-five years, we've visited Kauai often, and while our condos/hotel stays have been north, east, and south on the island, we seem to end up at Lydgate for relaxing swims every trip. Plenty of critters to see there, too, if you enjoy snorkeling.
