No things have not gotten better.

SFO/DEN on a 757. Auto checked in, #1 on up grade list. TOD offer of $100.
A few hours later, number 5 on upgrade list, but still lots of available seats, and still a $100 TOD.

By the next day, #7 on list, F checked in full.

Under UDU, this upgrade clears all the time.
