Like the 884/885, I believe that is just a temporary measure. We still have factory fresh 77D's and 77D retrofits to be retrofitted. By middle of next year, all 77W's by then should the new product across all classes.
Thanks so much. This is all helpful. From a personal standpoint, this temporary issue is quite disruptive to a trip I have been planning for years. I am left with the fact that the F seats I had confirmed almost a year in advance of my trip are now Business. There are two issues.
1) I am disappointed that I will not get to travel in F. I planned this trip quite carefully and it is going to cost an enormous amount of money. Obviously, this is a high class problem, but for someone like me who does not regularly get to travel in F, it is extremely disappointing that the product I bought and confirmed is now not being delivered to me.
2) The mechanism for a refund for me is worthless. I used Amex points (a lot of them) to convert to BA miles and then used those to reserve the F seats. The difference in Avios is 70,000. I am not a regular BA flyer and in fact see no time when I might use these, but of course BA will not re-deposit them into my Amex acct.
I have spoken with BA who were completely unhelpful. They did say they would refund the difference in Avios, but as I stated above, those are pretty much of no value to me. I have been told that there is no hope of moving us to 870. Amex was very nice, but they made it sound like I am not going to find a solution I like either. I have not called CX. Is there any chance they will be accommodating? If you or anyone else has any advice here, I would be most grateful.
Thanks!
