Generally speaking, where compensation is provided:

1. it is provided by the operating carrier, not the ticketing carrier
2. it consists of cash (unless otherwise agreed) and will often be calculated as the difference between lowest C and lowest Y or full-fare C and full-fare Y ticket (or a percentage of a full-fare C ticket)

As mentioned above, actually getting any compensation from TK may be next to impossible in this case, but them referring you back to AE and thereby implying you´d just get back some ridiculously low amount of miles doesn´t place TK in a better light IMO.

P.S. Aeroplan´s handling of the situation actually seems pretty generous as they´ll likely only get back a few $$ from TK. It´s TK´s handling of the situation I find more than a little disturbing.
Well, if this is the case it only makes me feel more upset at Turkish and more thankful to Aeroplan. In any case, as you suggest I think that it is close to impossible to get any compensation from Turkish, and I think that Aeroplan have done what they could, so at this point I think I will have to live with it, and just try that it does not happen to others. That said, any ideas on how to try to get back to them are of course very welcome (I have posted this on their Facebook page, good idea).

By the way, I forgot to mention that after Turkish Customer Service referred me to Aeroplan after two months waiting to hear back from them, I wrote back to them saying again more or less all this, and they answered that, again, I should discuss with Aeroplan, but that if I gave them my postal address they would be pleased to send me a gift on behalf of Turkish Airlines. Among other things, this was my reply:

"First of all, my wife and I were travelling together on our honeymoon, had booked our tickets in September 2011, and reserved our seats in March 2012, only for the incompetence and greediness of Turkish Airlines, which made your company overbook the business cabin in such a long haul flight, spoil the end of our honeymoon, so thank you, but no thank you, we do not want any presents from Turkish Airlines, we just want to be treated professionally and with respect and politeness, and to be provided the services that we pay for. Turkish Airlines did not do any of that, so I would advice you to save money in apology presents, and put it towards improving service at your airline, so that it eventually meets minimum quality standards."

They never replied back after that. I know that I may have been harsh, but I am seriously fed up with them.
