That´s the part where it gets interesting.

Generally speaking, where compensation is provided:

1. it is provided by the operating carrier, not the ticketing carrier
2. it consists of cash (unless otherwise agreed) and will often be calculated as the difference between lowest C and lowest Y or full-fare C and full-fare Y ticket (or a percentage of a full-fare C ticket)

As mentioned above, actually getting any compensation from TK may be next to impossible in this case, but them referring you back to AE and thereby implying you´d just get back some ridiculously low amount of miles doesn´t place TK in a better light IMO.

P.S. Aeroplan´s handling of the situation actually seems pretty generous as they´ll likely only get back a few $$ from TK. It´s TK´s handling of the situation I find more than a little disturbing.
