Per the above, my buddy falls into the #1 category. He's a scheduled pilot for a major airline. And you are correct, he stays at a hodgepodge of hotel brands but mostly MR and SPG.

My whole point to this thread is not to see if he can get points for the room rate but more to gain status and get the amenity. Just in case he wants to go on vacation with the family, it would be nice for him to be a Plat and potentially see an upgrade or get suite night upgrades. He certainly does enough nights to make Plat easily and maybe Plat 50.
