All electronics conduct some kind of interference, some passive some deliberate.
How hard is it to wait just a few moments before switching the phone on? You have all the time from seat belts off to immigration to switch the phone on - and don't try using it at immigration, even Will.i.am didn't get away with that. In Australian immigration and customs if you use the phone within the customs queue area, there i an on the spot fine.
Why are people so aggressive on the BA board? It is unlike to the rest of flyertalk (well the bits I look at)
If you read the post I made it will be clear that people leave their phones on on purpose (and I agree it's odd I've never understood the desire to be 'that' connected), but many others (me included) have done it by mistake.
My view is you'll never solve the issue of electronics always being switched off so why not combat the problem that having them switched on causes?
