My wife had been using the eBags Ballistic Nylon 22" carryon (it's more of a 20" in terms of capacity at around 2,200 cu. in. - vs. Motherlode Mini 21" rated at 2,750 cu. in. - both of them at over 8 lbs. empty) - the weight savings of the Convertible translated into my Dell 12" notebook + charger - while taking everyting else that normally get packed for a trip. The backpack straps are very comfortable, especially for a heavy load, going to/from rental car shuttles to the boarding gate or hotel lobby for checking in ...

The eBags eTech Weekender is a bit smaller, rated around 3,000 cu. in. and is slight less expensive - and the related eBags video is worth checking out -loved the "Convertible" for its numerous compartments & pockets for keeping everthing neat & organized.
