I asked if I could use a computer for a few minutes and would be happy to come back in 15 minutes so one could finish up and wouldnt be that long and came back 15 minutes later and neither would budge.

I complained to the dragon and she told both of them they were only allowed to be on the computer if their parents were in the lounge.
In this last case the lounge attendants and backroom staff were not concerned about the computers nor did they have time to find/lecture lecture parents. They were occupied with clearing the broken tea cups and liquid off the floor to avoid injuries (and to keep the infants from grabbing bottles of drink). This was a health & safety priority as a business woman almost slipped and fell because of it. They even had to call in staff from the lobby bar to assist.

Their desk remained abandoned as guests waited to check-in/out etc.

They are not staffed with enough people to deal with things like this when the lounge is at maximum capacity. They are only empowered to do what the hotel's policies allow them to do, so if the 'family hotel' excuse remains in place they have to bite their tongues and tolerate the madness.
