In looking around my online State Department FCU account today, I discovered that SDFCU also offers a prepaid chip/pin debit card (issued through PSCU). The card costs $10 (free shipping for 7 day delivery) and allows reloads online. The personalized version (with name) is available only to members (online or in branch), while the nonpersonalized version (no name printed on it) is available in their branches to anyone with a valid credit/debit card. It allows for up to four secondary cards (minimum age of secondary cardholder is 13); secondary cards also cost $10. The foreign transaction fee is 1%.

While I will stick to their credit card product, this debit card product seems to be more attractive than the Travelex product that some have been using.
