As I'd posted earlier in this thread, I originally started with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7, choosing this option over the Nexus primarily because of the lack of an SD slot (and the GT had two cameras, which was nice). But I was really on the fence because I wanted to get the newer JB OS and the faster processor. But I went with the GT7 anyway.
I really liked the GT, but after hearing all the glowing reviews of the Nexus here, and that it was easy to connect to an external SD with the OTG dongle, and after learning that the GT would not allow me to move apps to the SD card (and its internal memory was only 8GB), I decided to return my GT to Costco, and picked up the Nexus.
Having spent at least a couple weeks with both devices, let me make a couple observations in comparison.
The Nexus is very nice indeed. However, the GT had MUCH better external speakers. If I didn't feel like using headphones, the speakers were loud and clear enough that it was no problem at all. The Nexus speakers are so weak that they are almost worthless. You really have to use headphones with the Nexus.
The GT has an IR port, and a built in app that gives you the ability to use it as a remote control for your TV. The app displays TV listings for your cable provider with large graphics for each show currently airing. You just tap on the show you want to watch, and your TV turns to that channel. You can also turn your TV on and off, and control the volume of your TV and/or home theater system. I thought that was pretty cool.
If I had to be honest, I'd say that I'm regretting taking back the GT and swapping for the Nexus. Even with Jelly Bean, Google Now, and the faster processor, I still think I liked the GT better.
