Cars are ruinously expensive on ACK even through our usual supplier Windmill. There are also shuttle buses although these may not have run at a convenient time for the OP having such a short time on the island. Haven't done the Whaling museum in years, and certainly not since they did it up.
ACK is not a good place to get stuck though if transport goes wrong, they don't say '
