When theers a schedule change like yours theres not much you can do, for sure the Carrier need Not pay for any Hotel room should they allow a change of flight date.
Why not ask for a complete refund but bear in mind if any other flight/s are more expensive you will have to pay the goig rate for them w/o JetBlue owing you even a dime
Maybe next time pay alittle more and have everyone fly on the same flight, the Boston person could have trained it, bused it, drove or flown to NY then everyone fly on BWIA together
