I booked an international flight through priceline.com for me and my wife and the very next day there was a 10% drop in the price for the same itenary. It was well within 24 hours window to qualify for best price guarantee, so, I called priceline customer service. It kept me looping and on hold for a long time. I kept calling multiple times and finally managed to reach a real customer rep. I explained her the situation, to which she reacted saying that I was not qualified for the best price guarantee. The reason she mentioned was I called after 24 hours. And then I realized, I was trying to reach them for past 2+ hours. I explained that to her. But she mentioned system would not allow. I said it was not my problem because priceline's customer service phone line kept me awaiting for past 2 hours. I asked if they keep a log of the time when I first started calling them, to which the answer was NO. I asked if she could process this request with the voucher which I could use in future with priceline. She kept saying I did not qualify for the best price guarantee because I reached them after 24 hours and I explained her the same thing again repeatedly - I was trying to reach them for past 2 hours and she could check the records. They did not have the records!! The lady said I could reach the airline and talk about this situation. I do not think airline would entertain me for this request once the priceline paid them for the itenary. And moreover the itenary which I bought was not available on the airline's website. I mentioned that to priceline customer rep and she kept saying I did not qualify for best price guarantee.
Then she transferred the line to another person - same story again! I explained him the situation. I told him it was not my fault because I was kept waiting on the phone line because of the high volume. He could not help, he asked me to reach airline! I got frustrated and asked for a supervisor and he transferred the line to customer service specialist. This was another time consuming transfer.
This time the lady on the line again asked me for trip number! She pulled the record (by this time I was already exhausted and frustrated). I explained her how she is the third rep I was telling the entire story again. She kept saying the same thing - I did not qualify for the best price guarantee. I explained her I I was trying to reach them for past 2.5+ hours. She kept saying - I did not qualify......I asked her if I could talk to somebody who could understand and help with the situation because it was system's limitations and not my fault.
After 50 minutes on the phone since the time I was finally connected to a rep, I was tired. I asked the lady why priceline was trying to sell something which they are not sticking to. I used priceline extensively in the past for hotels, flights, cars etc. But after this experience I do not think I will use priceline in future.
