"All at once" appears to be the leisure route syndrome. Personally I think it is inappropriate for any flight over about 3 hours in length in business class, but at least it was a night departure and I can understand the desire to do a quick service by serving things at once. Having said that, having the lights on for 3 hours on an 11pm departure is silly and unacceptable for many people (including me). That's not attention to detail, that's plain inconvenient. Qantas did this to me 3 times in a row, and along with other service failures I basically stopped flying with them on international flights unless I am not spending cash.

SYD-NRT was in broad daylight. I have no idea why it had to be on a single tray service, and the service was rather poor (nothing like their Domestic F on which they always give me an excellent level of service).

JL used to be really excellent 15-20 years ago but nowadays it's just another airline on most flights to be honest.

I prefer BA even if I am served near-inedible spaghetti, except for JL domestic F which I really like.
