I think it is a very sensible SPG response, and the availability of Lounge access is not going down the path of the availability of Suites.

I was thinking of suggesting something useful here. Since the value of Club Access for Plats quoted by the named Hotel in OP's post is 3k daily, my suggestion is allowing the flexibility for Plats that does not need the Club Lounge, to take 1.5k points daily (50% discount to quoted price) and give up the Club Lounge access to prevent "overcrowding"?

And if the Club Lounge is full, and then the Hotel will as a standard policy across SPG, pay out 3k points as the "turnaway policy for Club Lounge", when they deny the SPG Plat's entry to Club Lounge.

This will ensure the Hotels to try their best to accommodate SPG Plats in their Club Lounges, and if the Plat's place is taken by paying guest, then at least he/she will be adequately compensated, and does not need to haggle with the Hotel with alternative arrangements.
