Why can I find rooms when I check Hotels.com, etc. but not the Starwood site?

Trying to book a room on the island of Kona in mid-October but the Starwood web site shows no availability at the Sheraton there. However, Hotels.com, Expedia and numerous other sites show rooms at about $225 for the nights I want. These are prepaid and I would not get my Plat benefits or stay credits/points booking through these sites. So I've booked Hilton until Starwood wakes up and figures out if they have rooms or not! What gives? Why would these sites show rooms but the hotel itself doesn't?
