ANA actually value their premium customers, and thus do much better financially than their competitors.
Actually I'd say it's more of a cultural difference -- Japanese people tend to have a much stronger sense of shame than Americans do. Certainly doesn't make a difference whether you are in F, C or Y, as the attendants will take their idle conversation to the crew rest area regardless.
