The family and I are staying in Orange County in mid-January for 3 nights. There will be 4 adults and 2 children, and I'm currently booked into the VIP Family Suite. When I checked they had this "on sale" for just over $300/night. I also need one night, concurrent with the 3 above, of a basic room. That was almost $200 for the night. My questions are this:

1) How is the family suite? I went back in this thread a bit and saw very little about this. I want to be sure that 6 of us (wife and in main room, kids on bunk beds, 2 other adults on sofa bed) will be comfortable.

2) Are there better options, either for the cost or the room, that I should be considering? As a new Diamond, I haven't used suite upgrades yet, and it sounds like I probably shouldn't for this property. But I'm willing to do whatever I can to make this comfortable for the family.

3) Should I look at any other Hyatts in OC? I'm willing to drive a bit, but I couldn't really find a place that seemed as family friendly as this one, though I did briefly consider the private villa at the Hyatt Newport Beach (that one makes a ton of sense, but at $900+/night, it's a bit out of the budget).

Thoughts? I appreciate any wisdom...

Thanks,

Enki
I would put the kids on the sofabed and the adults in the bedrooms and look at the cost of the 2 bedroom suite vs VIP family suite. 2 adults could even sleep in the room w/ bunk beds if they dont mind. The beds will be more comfortable for adults than the sofabed. Depends on how old the kids are and how picky they are. And if you wan tto punish the other 2 adults

Have you looked at buying the Hyatt stay cert or using your pts for the other room you need ?

Remodeled a couple of years ago and suites are very nice for families. The 2 bedroom suites have 2 full bathrooms.

No regency club so you get breakfast at the Tusca restaurant since you are diamond.

Used to stay here a lot and as a diamond I would get upgraded to 2 bedroom suite w/ a regular room reservation. Sometimes I had to ask (nicely of course) and if they had one open they gave it to me. Just not guaranteed.

Havent beem to Newport so cant say. Huntington Beach is nice, although will be a lot more, well usually it is.

Have fun.
