Quick update now that the dust has settled. I checked to see what banks pulled what credit reports.
Experian (4 total hard inquiries):
30k SPG points personal / 75k MR pt Amex Gold Business (combined into 1)
2 x 50k HHonors Pts Citi Hilton (combined into 1)
50k BofA Virgin Atlantic (showed as B of A)
35k Hawaiian Air Bof HI (Showed as FIA Card services)
Transunion (1 inquiry):
40k pts Barclay US Airways
Equifax (1 inquiry):
Chase SW personal/business (combined into 1, this is also strange because back in Jan/Apr they pulled Experian)
Also, my Credit Karma score went from 783 -> 782 (-1 pt).
All in all, this was about what I expected. I'm probably going to have to lay off Experian for awhile since I have 8 total inquiries now from the last year. I'm glad Chase is pulling Equifax in MD now though.
Is 8 inquiries getting to the tipping point, or do people have more than that and still get approved for credit cards/loans relatively easy with a decent score?
By the way, FTG had a good post today on getting your credit reports/scores for free or close to that. I had no idea you could get a 2nd free credit report per year per agency depending on your state.
